Ryann Casey | Associate Attorney

Ryann was born in Oakland, California and raised there in her formative years before moving to Bellevue, Washington for high school as her father’s career expanded. The transition from Oakland to Bellevue was a critical point in her life as she moved from a diverse population culturally and economically to a more homogenous population in Bellevue. Growing up in Oakland, she was exposed to the harmful effects of the justice system, whereas in Bellevue, the leniency and access to resources to circumvent the criminal justice system was glaringly apparent. Ryann was astonished as a teenager how the access to resources and financial gain resulted in a lower percentage of similar offenders being imprisoned and negatively affected the rest of their lives by the system.
The stark differences in the criminal justice system, inequitable resources and consequential treatment weighed heavy on Ryann’s heart. Seeing the differential treatment firsthand, sparked her desire at a young age to want to prioritize the rights and well-being of those being underrepresented or negatively impacted by the prison system, often known as the underdogs.

Ryann began college at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, where she studied psychology with a minor in pre-law. While at USC, Ryann tutored underserved youth in the Southern California area, furthering her passion to help others.

After college, Ryann attended Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While maintaining a high level of performance in school, she also balanced an internship at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's office. The opportunity to participate in this internship further solidified Ryann’s yearning to represent underserved people impacted by the justice system. Additionally, Ryann was a member of Project for the Innocent clinic working to free people wrongfully incarcerated.

Following law school graduation, Ryann passed the California Bar, but moved to Nashville, Tennessee to join her husband who was a coveted player for the Tennessee Titans. Upon moving to Nashville, Ryann successfully passed the Tennessee Bar and became a Davidson County Deputy Public Defender. Ryann handled a myriad of cases, from DUIs to aggravated assault. In addition to being a Public Defender, Ryann was a Vice Chair school board member at Purpose Prep Academy. In 2016, Ryann and her husband co-founded The Casey Fund (TCF), which aims to level the playing field for at-risk youth and formerly incarcerated individuals through community-based organizations.

In 2020, Ryann moved to Denver, Colorado with her husband and two children. In Denver, Ryann expanded TCF goals to provide relief and educational assistance to youth being impacted by COVID-19. Ryann recently became licensed in Colorado and is now Bar certified in three states, bringing a unique edge to her counsel presence given her vast knowledge of the legal system.

Ryann’s true passion is to advocate for all people, regardless of financial limitations. She understands that it is her duty to recognize and provide a comprehensive approach for everyone, and the impact this carries for clients and their families. Ryann is committed to providing zealous representation while genuinely considering her clients’ needs.
